Girl Scout Cookie season is possibly our favorite time of the year. Don’t tell us you’ve never dreamed about eating through a mountain of Thin Mints and Samoas before! This year we decided to ditch our usual cup of milk and instead paired our cookies with wine. You heard me right- girl scout cookies and glorious wine. Sound too good to be true? Whether you’re a fan of Tagalongs or Trefoils, I’ll let you know exactly what wine goes best with your girl scout cookie of choice.
Caramel Delites / Samoas + Malbec
Samoas are my all time favorite Girl Scout Cookie, and so naturally this is the first wine and cookie pairing I tried! This wine was able to perfectly stand alongside a Samoas’ sweet mix of flavors without ever seeming like too much.
Thin Mints + Pinot Noir
Thin Mints are the best selling Girl Scout Cookie year after year, and it’s no surprise to us. The dark chocolate and mint in this cookie goes best with a Pinot Noir’s fruity notes!
Peanut Butter Patties / Tagalongs + Cabernet Sauvignon
Tagalongs provide the perfect balance of chocolate and peanut butter that make it hard to have just one. Cabernet Sauvignon’s vanilla and cherry notes go best with this sweet and salty cookie.
Peanut Butter Sandwiches / Do-Si-Dos + Merlot
Do you love peanut butter as much as we do? Do-Si-Dos are basically mini peanut butter sandwiches (perfection!) and its’ salty flavors go best with a tall glass of Merlot.
Thanks-A-Lots + Rioja
This simple shortbread and chocolate cookie can go well with any wine, but the Rioja’s berry flavors are our favorite pairing.
Lemonades + Pinot Grigio
Lemonades are tart and sweet all at the same time. A Pinot Grigio has it’s own natural lemon flavor that goes hand in hand with this Girl Scout classic!
Shortbread / Trefoils + Chardonnay
Just thinking of Trefoils is enough to make your mouth water. The simple buttery goodness of this cookie goes well with a Chardonnay’s butter notes.
Cranberry Citrus Crisps + Sauvignon
One of the newer Girl Scout Cookies, Cranberry Citrus Crisps are whole grain and tangy. This cookie’s cranberry and citrus flavors go best with a glass of Sauvignon.
There are your pairings Dawls! Enjoy your last few girl scout cookies with some of our wine recommendations and tell us what you think. Don’t hold back from pouring yourself more than just one glass either!
